—The spirit of the project Biofactory© consists in promotes development of viable technologies and commercial markets for renewable and sustainable products derived from microalgae’s, using the specific resources to participate at the construction of an industrial base and participate also in the sustainable development of our territory.

The project plans to spread a pilot production unit of microalgae’s in Martinique by 2014 using a PBR’s (Photo Bio-Reactor) continuous mass production, using the available natural sun-light and stable Caribbean climate, it represents numerous natural assets to develop the algae-culture: The weather conditions of the inter-tropical zone are very convenient to the growth and to the massive culture of microalgae’s. For this scope our association have available half-hectare of terrain to develop the pilot project. —

Our first challenge is centered on laboratory phase research for all necessary parameters appointed to choice the best algae strain for continuous mass production, basic on the microalgae strain adapted and resistant to our tropic environment.

Now, the current situation, marked by a very volatile oil price and by a necessity of fighting against greenhouse gases, encourages the research works led on these renewable energy and the industrial concept crop of microalgae’s rendering the relevant industry interesting for economic and market diversification from the traditional agriculture and energy production methods, the project is completely eco-sustainable and eco-solidarity rendering also compatible with local environment and economically viable.—The algal-carburant is only one of the by-products of the algae-culture. Microalgae’s cultivated for food purposes are an alternative to the fishing, and microalgae’s constitutes a valuable biomass byproduct for: pharmaceutical molecular industry and Omega 3 valuable good.

—It is consequently a question of favoring the concerted action between the actors of the social policies of the agricultural communities, to create a real biotechnology industry of the food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and energy vocation scheme.

—Concept of Bio-fertilizers and Bio-pesticides from microalgae’s:

—The farming sector concentrates efforts in methods to find fertilizers effective which can promote the yield efficiency on the cultures and at the same time, do not provoke damage to the ecosystem and the imbalance of the natural biodiversity. The commercial large-scale production of the cultures cause several problems such the acidification of grounds, diseases and environmental changes, causing the decline of the composition of the ground and the water.

—Harmful chemical substances used as pesticides and fertilizer in the production of Sugar-Cane and Banana in Martinique have provoked an accumulation of toxic substances in the soil and negative effects in the water cycle chain, opening to unpredictable disasters like the water shortage, pollution, greenhouse effects and shortage of farmlands can potential arise. Bio-fertilizing and bio-pesticides represent a big opportunity group of microorganisms (microalgae’s) which are beneficial in the improvement of the productivity of grounds, thus, they serve by fixing the atmospheric synthesis of the nitrogen promoting the plants grow. Bio-fertilizers are effective replacements for artificial fertilizers and are more profitable at long-terms.

—Bio-fertilizers are natural, organic and renewable source of energy. They help to preserve key nutriments and water in the ground which is necessary for the good growth of plants, the massive use of artificial fertilizers could change the natural composition of ground chemical level, pulling the contamination and the pollution.

—The use of bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides preserve an appropriate quantity of water and nutriments supplying the just balance easily available for the plant, since the symbiotic relation between plants and microorganisms is well knew.

—Bio-fertilizers are defined as biologically active natural products or microbial inoculating of bacteria, algae’s and fungi (separately or in combination) allows the biological fixation of the nitrogen for the natural profit of the plant.

—So, we can resume the reasons for use bio-fertilizers as follow:

1 - Increase of the productivity and promotion of substances stimulating the natural growth.

2 - Accumulate organic matter after the harvest.

3 - Enriches the ground promoting the nitrogen fixation using at rate of 60kg / ha in a yield season, since it fix phosphate by mineral ions such Fe, Al, Ca and organic acids.

4 - Natural regulator of the plant growth metabolism.

5 - Bio-fertilizers to promote the natural resistance to the diseases of plants and so avoiding the use of chemical pesticides.

6 - Contribute substantially to the recovering of the mistreated soil by chemical fertilizers and accelerating the growth of healthy plants.

—The production of bio-fertilizers with microalgae shows a potential raised in the decades to come and in this way of obtaining a reduction substantial of chemical fertilizers and thus of relieving their associated negative impacts from the environment.

Concept of water treatment using microalgae's:

—The Algae’s are agents of bio-remedial mattering and are already used by numerous installations of wastewater. The potential of microalgae’s in the wastewater purification is however much wider than its current role. The present report of wastewater treatment with algae’s was prepared by - GreenPower Biotechnology as an answer for the enormous market need and for a detailed resource which supplies a collection of case studies, practical data and ideas for the efforts with algae’s wastewater treatment.

—Industries which will takes benefit from the report:

  • The meat and poultry.

  • Textile & Papers Dye.

  • Treatment of the metallic surfaces.

  • Coloring agents and Pigments.

  • Pharmaceutical.

  • Distillery and Breweries.

  • Foodstuffs and milkmen.

  • Fish farming.

  • Amidol and Cellulose.

  • Pesticidal and insecticidal.

  • Chemical and units of medicines formulation.

  • Fertilizing.

Microalgae - Mass Growing technology

The spirit of our new project Biofactory© consists in promotes development of viable technologies and commercial markets for renewable and sustainable products derived from Microalgae's, using the specific resources to participate at the construction of an industrial base and participate also in the sustainable development of our territory. The project plans to spread a pilot production unit of microalgae's in the Caribbean territory by 2014 using the PBR’s (Photo Bio-Reactor Technology), this continuous mass production should be possible grace to our exclusive HTD Microalgae's patented massive grow nutrition method and the Caribbean climate which represents numerous natural assets to develop the microalgae's culture. The weather conditions of the inter-tropical zone are very convenient to massive culture of microalgae’s.

  • The algal-carburant (Biodiesel) is only one of the by-products of the algae-culture.

  • Microalgae’s cultivated for food purposes are an valuable alternative to the fishing, and microalgae’s constitutes a valuable biomass byproduct also for: pharmaceutical molecular industry and Omega 3 valuable good.

It is consequently a question of favoring the concerted action between the actors of the social policies of the agricultural communities, to create a real biotechnology industry of the food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and energy vocation scheme.
